FBI, DHS Warn of Possible Threats for DNC

The FBI, along with the Department of Homeland Security, has released an intelligence bulletin regarding the upcoming Democratic and Republican National Conventions. The declassified document can be viewed here.

The bulletin contains information concerning the threat of radical anarchist to the safety of the public during the conventions. The RNC starts in Tampa next week. Among the probably targets of extremist protesters are financial institutions, local businesses, law enforcement, and transportation hubs. The statement also says that the groups may attempt to use explosives and incendiary devices.

Chief of Police for CMPD Rodney Monroe gave a message of reassurance during a town hall meeting Wednesday night. He will be attending the RNC in Tampa, Florida with other members of law enforcement to observe what transpires there and how the city responds.

Charlotte will be bringing in thousands of police officers from several states as an added security measure for the DNC. Monroe and Charlotte Mayor Foxx have both publicly stated that they are fully confident in the city's ability to keep Charlotte safe during the convention.
