Home Invasion in West Charlotte

Police are investigating an overnight home invasion in west Charlotte, NC. According to police, three men kicked in the back door of a home on West Boulevard around 2 am Thursday morning. The men made their way inside and a 10-year-old boy was home alone at the time. Authorities say the suspect ordered the boy into the bathroom, where he remained until the robber was gone. The boy was not injured.

Police may be investigating, trying to find the three men who robbed the place, but social services is also asking questions. They want to know why the boy’s mother left him home alone.

Jail records show the boy’s mother, Jessica Angela Hinson, (L) has been arrested before for drug-related charges. Officers arrested her in July on felony cocaine possession and on a misdemeanor count for possession of drug paraphernalia. The police report stated that nothing appeared to be taken from the house, but investigators said it was too early to tell if the suspects pulled the break-in looking for drugs.

Social Services officers and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police will continue to investigate before deciding whether to charge Hinson. Officers have not released any descriptions of the men responsible for the break-in. Source: News 14 Carolina

What is wrong with this picture? What is a 10 year old boy doing home alone at 2am? Where was his mother and why hasn't she been charged with negligence of a child yet? I truly believe parents have a lot to do with how a child behaves. If your children are alone at 2 in the morning, who knows what kind of trouble they can get into.
