Mother Leaves 2 Children in Car

Another story of bad parenting in Charlotte... A 39-year-old Charlotte woman was cited by CMPD police on Sunday after officers said she left her two children in a car while she shopped at a nearby store.

Ivonne Adriana Escobar was charged with leaving children in an unattended car with the engine running. Police were called about 4:45 pm to a parking lot in the 3400 block of Pineville-Matthews Road after being told that two children were in a car with the engine running. They found an 8-year-old and an infant in the car.

Officers then found the mother in a store, where police said she had been shopping about 30 minutes. Police also have filed a report with the county Department of Social Services, which is customary in such a case. The children were not harmed, police said.
