Bank Robbery in Matthews

The FBI released the following information about a bank robbery that occurred today around 5:30 pm at the Wachovia Bank located at 15030 Idlewild Rd in Matthews, NC:

According to witness statements, two suspects entered the bank and fired two shots but did not hit anyone. The suspects allegedly demanded money from the vault, but fled the bank without any money due to heightened security procedures enacted by the bank. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

The suspects are described as following:
#1: Black male, approximately 5'8" - 5'10", wearing a dark colored sweatsuit with a hood.
#2: Unidentified subject, approximately 5'4" - 5'6", wearing a black/dark colored sweatsuit pants and a light grey hooded sweatshirt.

The FBI's Safe Streets Task Force, comprised of agents, officers and detectives from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriffs Office and the North Carolina Probation and Parole, and other law enforcement agencies are still investigating. Additionally, Stallings Police Department responded to the robbery and are assisting in the FBI investigation.
