November 5, 2006, Officers from CMPD, NC State Highway Patrol and DMV conducted a sting called "
Operation Enjoy the Ride" to arrest numerous individuals wanted for pre-arranged speed competition, stolen car parts and outstanding warrants. The sting operation took place at the Stonecrest Shopping Center on Rea Road @ I-485. (

Seventeen of the
arrested drag racers appeared in court to face a judge today. All of the young men pled guilty. Each one lost their car and was placed on probation for one year. Police did such a great job collecting evidence on these guys, they didn't stand a chance! - Source:
