Cigarette Robbers Apprehended

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Armed Robbery Unit has been investigating a series of armed robberies and larcenies from convenience stores where large amounts of cigarettes were taken. The incidents occurred throughout Mecklenburg County between May 6, 2008 and July 9, 2008, targeting several different businesses.

To date, police have arrested four suspects; Vincent Carpenter, Darrell Moore, Lenell Gales and John Smith. 12 armed robberies and 9 larcenies were solved as a result of the arrests.

These cases will be presented to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. The investigation is continuing to determine if the suspects are responsible for additional robberies and larcenies.
