On July 16, 2008, Auto Theft Detectives executed a search warrant for the residence at 7236 Ravanna Dr in the University area where information had been developed that the residents, Mario Villatoro & Raymond Bonilla, were operating an illegal chop shop. Detectives had previously identified a stolen engine installed in the suspects car from a voluntary contact.Upon executing the search warrant at the residence detectives and officers located a second stolen engine inside the garage. Both engines had been removed from cars that had been stolen.
One car has not been recovered as of yet and was stolen from Rock Hill SC, the second car has been recovered and was stolen out of Charlotte- that car was recovered approximately 1/8 of a mile from the residence on Ravanna Dr, stripped of its engine and several other parts.Detectives took both suspects into custody and charged them with operating a Chop Shop.
