CMPD Reviews Quarterly Crime Statistics

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Deputy Police Chief Kerr Putney reviewed the third quarter crime statistics for 2010 at a press briefing Wednesday. Through the end of September, the preliminary total for Index Offenses was -12.9% lower than this time last year. Property crime decreased by -12.8% while violent crime decreased by -13.2%.

Captain Bruce Bellamy with the Metro Division also discussed some of the operations and enforcement his Metro Division officers have employed in the neighborhoods that surround the N. Tryon Street corridor.

Dozens of community members from that corridor were also on hand to talk about some of the recent success the community has had in making this a safer area through their partnerships with CMPD.
