Officers and detectives throughout the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have worked together to investigate a number of recent burglary cases that have occurred in the Myers Park, Dilworth, and Elizabeth communities.
Today, officers from the Providence and Central divisions along with Burglary Investigators arrested three people in connection with at least 11 of the burglaries committed since last December. In more than half of the cases, the suspects broke into the homes while the residents were sleeping.
At a press conference today, CMPD announced they secured warrants, located and arrested Rodney Dewayne Love, Demareo LilJames Whitley, and Dante Bernard Austin on charges of breaking and entering, larceny and burglary. Each of the three suspects has prior arrests ranging from larceny, break-ins, to armed robbery.
Police say the burglaries occurred on Templeton Ave, Princeton Ave, Asheville Place and Sterling Rd. Officers said they were able to recover some of the items the men stole during the break-ins.
During the press conference, police said these cases were solved with the help of citizens calling 911 to report suspicious persons in the area. Police said these encounters helped them place the suspects in the area and added to the evidence against them. Eleven cases are solved and three people are in jail thanks to vigilant Charlotte citizens!
