Four black men in a stolen black Honda Accord went on a crime spree this morning in Charlotte. Police believe the same four men were involved in one shooting and up to seven armed robberies- all of which occurred before noon today. Police say they believe the cases are connected because all the victims are Hispanic and descriptions of the suspects car, weapon and men are the same in each of the crimes.
The first robbery occurred around 7:45 am on Dovetree Lane. A man was standing outside at the Woodland Hollow Apartments, waiting for a ride to work.
A black Honda occupied by four black men pulled up and robbed him of his ID, cell phone, and $1,000 cash. Before they left, they shot the man in the foot and buttocks.
Photographer Jonathan Jones captured a photo of the victims' boot and a crime scene technician collecting the evidence at the scene. Jones spoke with police and learned the plastic bag was on his foot at the time of the shooting. He also learned police recovered the bullet that went through the victims foot.
After the suspects shot and robbed the victim on Dovetree Lane, they took a break before they drove to Canterwood Drive and robbed another victim at gunpoint at 9:11 am. The suspects then drove back to Dovetree Lane and robbed another victim at 9:21 am.
The suspects left the area and traveled to 9000 E WT Harris Blvd, where they robbed another man at gunpoint at 10:18 am. They continued to Teal Point Drive and robbed another person at 10:38 am and then another on Farm Pond Lane around the same time. The men then traveled to Idlewild Rd, where they committed another armed robbery at 10:43 am. The final robbery occurred at 11:45 am on Electra Lane.
CMPD searched for the suspects by air and car but were unable to apprehend them.
Late this afternoon, police recovered the suspects' vehicle, however, the suspects remain at large. If you have any information, please call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
