Woman Fires Shot to Scare Burglars

A brave woman who lives in the Melbourne subdivision in Huntersville was on the phone this morning when an unknown man started ringing her doorbell.

The woman noticed a car backed up in her driveway and knew something wasn't right. She gave her friend a description of the vehicle and license plate number and asked them to call police.

When the woman heard the men breaking into her home, she ran upstairs to get her gun. She says she ran down the stairs, screamed at the intruders and fired one shot into her ceiling.

The sound of the shot scared the robbers away but police were already on the lookout for the suspects vehicle.

Police caught the men a short while later on Gilead Road near Interstate 77 and arrested them.
