Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation at 619 Village Court, located in the CMPD Westover Division. The incident was reported on November 2, 2010. The victim has been identified as Richard Earl Teach.
Westover Division officers responded to a call for service which came in as an assault with a deadly weapon. The caller advised that someone had been shot and was lying on the ground in the parking area of the apartments. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male subject deceased on the ground. It appears that the victim was struck by a vehicle. Medic arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on scene. The Medical Examiner was able to confirm the victim also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to collect physical evidence and photograph the scene. Members of the Homicide Unit, ADW Unit and the Accident Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation since its inception.
Homicide Detectives are still asking for the public's assistance in locating the following vehicles:
* A dark colored truck possibly black with a broken out window with possible pin stripes down the side
* A burgundy, 2003, 4 door, Toyota Avalon with a rear spoiler, displaying a Virginia license plate, XJV-6298
