Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit and ADW Unit are conducting an investigation into a shooting at 5805 Hunting Ridge Lane, which left one man dead. The call for service came in at 10:05 p.m., on Sunday, February 26, 2012. The deceased has been positively identified as Guy J. Stewart.
Independence Division patrol officers responded to Hunting Ridge Lane where they located a male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The 911 caller/shooter resides at the apartment where the shooting took place. Medic arrived at the scene and pronounced the shooting victim deceased at 10:12 p.m. Both the shooter and the deceased are known to each other; this is not a random act of violence.
The shooter is cooperating with detectives and is currently being questioned at CMPD headquarters. Detectives are in the process of canvassing the complex to determine if anyone heard or saw anything in the moments leading up to the shooting that will aid the investigation.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team responded to the scene as well.
