Charlotte Man Found Shot in SC; Car Found at Charlotte Shopping Center

Gregory Sarles, 23, was found dead Thursday morning near a pond in Blacksburg, SC.  Cherokee County, SC Coroner Dennis Fowler said Greg Sarles of Charlotte, NC, had been shot several times and an autopsy has been scheduled for today.

Investigators say multiple shell casings were found nearby and that Sarles appeared to have been dead for several hours before his body was found around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.  Fowler says the body was found by a couple checking turtle traps they had set the afternoon before.

Police found Sarles’ vehicle at a Charlotte shopping center parking lot Thursday afternoon.   Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said Sarles told family he was going to meet some people at the shopping mall and then go somewhere else, but who and where remains a mystery for now.
