Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit and A/D/W Unit are conducting an investigation into a shooting at the 5600 block of Sharon Pointe Road which left one man dead and a female in critical condition. The call for service came in at 7:59pm on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
Hickory Grove patrol officers responded to Sharon Pointe Apartments off of North Sharon Amity Road in reference to an ADW call for service. Upon arrival they located a male and female inside of the apartment suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. The female was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where she is in critical condition at this time. Based on the initial investigation this incident appears to be domestic violence related.
Initial indications are that the male subject shot the female and then shot himself. Detectives are currently canvassing the complex to determine if anyone saw or heard anything in the moments leading up to the shooting that will aid in the investigation. Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Detectives from the Gang and Vice Unit and Domestic Violence Detectives also responded to the scene.
