He spent more than 2 1/2 years in a federal prison after pleading guilty in 1986 to reproducing and mailing child pornography.
According to this Charlotte.com article,
SBI agents arrested David Edward Boland, 46, of Charlotte, about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Discovery Place uptown, where Boland had worked for less than a month as a temporary, part-time ticket agent.
Boland was charged Wednesday with six counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor after he was identified in a nationwide child pornography investigation centered in Seattle.
"He's been on our radar for a few months," said U.S. Postal Service inspector Lisa Holman, who investigated Boland with SBI special agent Lori Shank.
Agents searched the house Boland shared with his mother in the Quail Hollow area and seized a list of items including: VCR and 8 mm tapes, magazines and books, floppy discs, CDs, a camcorder and Dell computer, and four CD burners, according to the search warrant filed in court records.
The exploitation charge stems from possession of child pornography, Holman said. Agents are investigating whether his involvement went beyond that scope, she said.
