ICE Arrests 5 Illegal Alien Criminals

Here is a April 28, 2006 news release from US Immigration & Customs Enforcement:

Five violent criminal aliens arrested by ICE special agents in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A total of five violent criminal aliens were arrested here in the past two weeks by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents acting on information received from local law enforcement agencies and citizens in the community.


Among the arrested were:

*Alfredo Perez-Perez, 32
13 criminal convictions: Rape, Kidnapping, Drugs, Trespassing, Assault

*Luis Gustavo Costa-Silva, 30
5 criminal convictions: Larceny, Trespassing, Drugs, Assault

*Pedro Martinez, 53
14 criminal convictions: B&E, Assault, Trespassing, Drugs, Discharge Firearm in City, Larceny

*Jaime Silverio-Zarate, 38
30 criminal convictions: Unknown

*Eliza Gonzalez-Parra, 26
Criminally convicted 17 times: Assault, Larceny, Trespassing

All were processed by ICE special agents for removal from the United States and remain in ICE custody awaiting the outcome of their cases. They represent the countries of Mexico and Brazil.

These criminal aliens have extensive criminal histories ranging from drug violations to assault with a deadly weapon. Between them, these individuals have been convicted of seventy-nine criminal acts while being unlawfully present in the United States.

"We intend to continue to use all of the authorities available to ICE to ensure that habitual criminals like these are removed from our communities,” said Jeff Jordan, assistant special-agent-in-charge of ICE in Charlotte. "These individuals will no longer prey on our community."

ICE agents conduct operations every day in locations around the country as part of their efforts to protect the nation and uphold public safety. These operations are not random sweeps, but carefully planned enforcement actions that result from investigative leads and intelligence.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is responsible for investigating a wide range of domestic and international activities arising from the movement of people and goods in violation of the nation's immigration and custom laws.
