The following did not happen in Charlotte but Stallings. I am posting it because I felt it was important to address the dangers of sending your child to an unlicensed daycare. Vicky Vale was arrested last Wednesday for operating an unlicensed daycare in her home. A 4-month old baby girl died in her care. According to a report by WSOC, no foul play is suspected by Vicky Vale. However, police believe the baby was dead for a couple of hours before Ms. Vale discovered she was dead. Furthermore, she was watching 15 children- by herself! According to North Carolina law, a legal day care must have at least 1 adult for every 5 children.
Clearly, this woman was not able to watch all 15 of these children & give adequate care. If she did not check on a newborn for a couple of hours, there is something wrong! What I want to know is if the parents were aware she was watching so many children. If so, they should be ashamed as well. A parent knows one person cannot care for 15 children by themselves.
