April's DWI Crackdown

Police arrested almost 200 people in April during a month-long crackdown on drunk driving in Mecklenburg County. During the campaign, law enforcement agencies had 21 checkpoints and conducted 60 saturation patrols.

CMPD reported the following totals:

*Total DWI's: 195
*Under 21 DWI's: 30
*Speeding: 3,127
*Safety Belt Violations: 505
*Child Safety Seat Violations: 66
*Driving With Revoked License: 547
*Drug Violations: 89
*Other Criminal Violations: 259
*Stolen Vehicles Recovered: 6
*Fugitives Apprehended: 22
