A manager at a Jason’s Deli restaurant was shot in the chest Sunday night after police said a man tried to rob him after the business closed.
Police said it happened around midnight at the restaurant located at 3509 West WT Harris Boulevard. Police said the victim had just closed for the night when he was approached by a man dressed in all black. Police said the suspect shot the manager, but didn’t take anything.
The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
Monday, 6NEWS talked to employees at Jason’s Deli.
None of them wanted to appear on camera, but they said they were very disturbed by what happened to their co-worker and the restaurant now plans to close at 7 p.m.
Police do not have detailed description of the suspect. The victim told them the suspect was wearing a mask over his face.
