Once again, after the awesome firework display on the Fourth of July, some scumbags decided to cause havoc in downtown Charlotte.I went downtown for the fireworks and the police were everywhere! In cars, on the sidewalks, on bikes- all over the place. I think the police did an awesome job in patrolling the streets and I am tired of hearing people blame them! People forget that the police cannot do anything to someone until they commit a crime.
CMPD had the streets clear in one hour- and everything was all cleaned up by the time I drove through at 7:15 am! That is amazing! Major Kudos to all the officers who were away from their family and friends on the 4th to protect us citizens!24 people were arrested and every single one of them was African-American. All of the people arrested were under the age of 23. This group of thugs were fighting, throwing fireworks into the crowd, throwing bricks, bottles and rocks into the crowd and at the police. They overturned newspaper racks, garbage cans and anything else they could get their hands on. People in bars and restaurants had to stay inside while police dealt with the situation.
Among the people arrested were several juveniles and one man, Sean Fagan, (R) who was featured on a most wanted poster for an armed robbery.
