UPDATE: Today, police arrested 27 year old Terry Lee Hill (L) He is charged with murder, two counts of assault with intent to kill and assault with serious injury. Police continue to investigate a motive for the shooting.On Sunday morning, 17-year old Markala Cooper was shot and killed by Terry Hill. Police say the shooting happened just before 1 am at a Petro Express gas station on North Tryon Street.
The victim and the suspect were arguing at the gas station when shots were fired into a vehicle, killing Cooper and wounding 16-year old Andre Staton.
Staton managed to drive himself and Cooper 3 miles down the street to an Auto Bell Car Wash. Staton flagged down an ambulance that happened to be in the area. Paramedics found Cooper dead in the car. Staton is listed as in fair condition at Carolina's Medical Center. Police shut down North Tryon for several hours to investigate. Source: WSOC-TV
