The Union County, NC Sheriff's Office arrested two men on a number of drug charges yesterday. The arrests are part of a nationwide drug crackdown called "Operation Byrne Drugs," the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office says its deputies and agents from the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation made the arrests after executing a search warrant on what it described as "an indoor marijuana growing operation" at the men's home.
Agents found two marijuana plants and 70 seedlings growing in an outbuilding, and 10 more plants growing in a crawlspace under the house. Authorities said they seized 83 plants, with a street value of $199,000; 14 grams of marijuana; cocaine residue; and a variety of items that they described as useful in growing marijuana.
Arrested were Alan Maxwell Horne (L) and George Aaron Otto, 41. (R) The two men live on Looking Glass Lane, off NOAA 200, about 4 miles northeast of Washoe, NC.
Horne was charged with manufacture of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for the possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, among other charges. Otto faces charges of simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men face sept. 6 court dates. Source: The Charlotte Observer
