A fight occurred after the East Mecklenburg -vs- Myers Park High School football game. The police and medic were originally called to a shooting at East Meck HS but police now say it was only a "fight" with serious injuries.
The fight happened in the parking lot of a church across from the school. Police say the two victims were leaving the game and were chased by several people. Police say one of the victims was hit on the head with metal object, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
Eyewitness News had a crew at the game and their photographer says he heard at least ten gunshots. Police aren't saying there wasn't a shooting, but still say no one was hit by bullets.
It is unclear who was involved in the fight or if either of the people hurt are students. Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials asked parents to pick up children from the game and say they will have extra security at both East Mecklenburg High School and Myers Park High School on Monday morning.
