Two Caught Stealing from School

Two people are in Union County jail this morning, charged in a breaking and entering that happened on Thursday night at East Mecklenburg High School. When the CMS Officers spotted the two vandals a high-speed chase ensued through eastern Mecklenburg and western Union counties.

Police say the two responsible for the break-in are Michael Philmon and Chrystal Deanne Hudson. The two were caught by a sophisticated surveillance camera system at East Mecklenburg High School. The surveillance system includes cameras that monitor nearly all parts of the school and campus.

According to police, the surveillance cameras and other security equipment alerted authorities around 11 pm last night. Cameras reportedly showed two people loading electronic equipment into a truck. CMS police responded, and a chase began.

The pursuit went through Matthews and into Union County. Police in Monroe finally stopped the truck at the corner of Walkup Avenue and Morgan Mill Road, using stop sticks. Police say they recovered the electronic equipment that had been taken from the school. Source: The Charlotte Observer
