Don't get 'Towjacked'

A new type of auto 'theft' is taking place in parking lots across Charlotte. The term police officers use is "towjacking,"- when tow truck drivers sit and wait to tow cars parked illegally. Make sure you read the sign before you park or you may become the next 'towjacking' victim. If the sign says "Parking for___ Only" and the tow truck driver watches you go somewhere else- your car could be towed.

Two known places where "towjacking" occurs is at the Starbuck's on East Boulevard and the new CVS located downtown, in the fourth ward. Source: WBTV
