UPDATE: Police arrested 37-year old Sherrod Byers. (R) He is charged with first degree burglary, first degree rape and attempted first degree sex offense. A woman in her late 80's was sexually assaulted early this morning on Kirkland Avenue, located in the Enderly Park Neighborhood. Police say the woman was sleeping in her bedroom when a man broke-in through the back door.
The suspect entered the woman's bedroom, disrobed, and sexually and physically assaulted the elderly woman. After the attack, the victim ran to a neighbors home for help.
Police say the rapist is a very large black male weighing approximately 300 pounds. He is described as having dark skin, 6 foot, and is 40's-50's in age.
