On June 5, 2006, three suspects carjacked a woman and her friend at gunpoint in a parking lot at the corner of Parkwood Ave. & The Plaza. After the carjacking, the suspects ran from police and crashed the stolen car on Harris Blvd.Police apprehended Sean Smith,(R) Nathan Nance and Tamysha Johnson. All three were charged with two counts of armed robbery, conspiracy and resisting a police officer.
On June 7th, Sean Smith was convicted on two counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. He was sentenced to 15-19 1/2 years in prison. The cases against the other two suspects in the case are still pending.
