Yesterday morning, police raided The Toll House Motel, located off Morehead Street. Police say the Toll House Motel was a haven for criminal activity with unsafe living conditions. After the raid, the city temporarily closed the motel because of several safety code violations.
Police say they have been called to the motel on several occasions for assaults, drug activity, prostitution and murder. The raid resulted in seven arrests, including the owner, John Crider. (R)
According to a review posted on Yahoo, the motel charges $99.00 per week to stay/live there. The reviewer said, "... the place is simply filthy, the area has a negative vibe, the guest are actually long time tenants, ghetto mentality, loud talking, fighting, party, cursing is not uncommon. Management if that is what you call it, is horrible..."
