On Tuesday afternoon, police were called to the Royal Orleans Apartments after residents reported hearing gunshots. Police learned the shots were fired during a disagreement between a man and his girlfriend, however, nobody was hurt.Police asked the 24-year old shooter, Demario Ballard, to exit the apartment and he refused. The CMPD SWAT team responded and evacuated nearby apartments while police surrounded the apartment complex.
Ballard was eventually located in the apartment complex laundry room. He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Police say this is the second time Ballard has been involved in a domestic disagreement involving guns.
