Providence Division and Vice & Narcotics Officers worked an eight-week undercover campaign to rid the Grier Heights neighborhood of drugs. The operation resulted in warrants for 19 subjects for making drug sales to undercover police officers from CMPD Vice & Narcotics unit.The drug purchases were made over the course of approximately 8 weeks, from May to July 2007. Drugs purchased included: marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy pills.
Arrests began on September 6th, when Keisha Brown was taken into custody for level III trafficking in ecstasy pills after delivering over 1,100 pills to an undercover officer who had made previous buys from her.
On September 10th, officers began serving the other arrest warrants beginning with warrant service on four subjects who were already in custody at the Mecklenburg County jail on unrelated charges: Kshawn Farrington (habitual repeat offender (HRO)), Breon Stitt (HRO), Randolph McCain (HRO) and Bryan Young (HRO)
In addition to these warrants being served, officers made additional arrests, seized drugs and guns on September 10th which were unrelated to the buy campaign. Those arrested include:
- Timothy "Puff" Mackey (HRO): Outstanding warrant, possession of cocaine, resisting and possession of firearm by felon.
- Tori Stacks (HRO): Felony outstanding warrants, possession of a stolen gun, possession of a gun by felon & drug charges.
- Charlene McManus (HRO): Possession of crack/cocaine.
- Robert McClendon: Possession of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
- Marcus J. Sturdivant: Outstanding order for arrest- possession of marijuana.
- Rico Henderson : Possession of a gun by a felon and possession of marijuana.
Between September 12th and September 23rd, others arrested related to the buy campaign include:
Tara Hopkins, Ricky Wright (HRO), Christopher Jackson, John Truesdale, Barbara Baker, Gregory Pratt, Nakio Cousart (HRO), Stephen Hopkins
