On April 6, 2008, 27-year old Lacoya Monique Martin was found murdered in the 1900 block of Oaklawn Avenue. Police haven't said how she was killed or given many details of the murder- but detectives say they used DNA to catch her killer.Marion Anthony Gales, 46, was charged with murder on Monday by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Police say forensic evidence linked Gales to the murder of Lacoya Martin.
According to an article in the Charlotte Observer, Gales was a prime suspect in the murder of Kim Thomas, which occurred 18 years ago.
