A landlord was shot and killed by his tenant yesterday afternoon. Police say they were called to Zircon Street shortly before 5:00 pm and found Jacob Massachi deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.The CMPD Homicide Unit arrested and charged Shawn Darnell Howard with murder. Mr. Howard does not have a local arrest history in Mecklenburg County, however, he has served prison time in the New York State Department of Corrections.
The incident which took place earlier today is an isolated incident, not a random act of violence. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the shooting was preceded by an argument between Mr. Massachi and Mr. Howard in an apparent landlord-tenant dispute. Mr. Howard was a resident at 3100 #3, Zircon Street, a property owned by Mr. Massachi.
