Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detectives are investigating the shooting of a young man in the 2500 block of Johnston Oehler Road near the intersection of Mallard Creek Road. The victim has been identified as Ahmad Inman Clyburn, 22. Mr. Clyburn is a student at North Carolina A&T Greensboro.
University Division officers responded to the victim’s call to 911 that he had been shot outside the entrance to Mallard Creek Park. The call came in at 9:17 p.m. last night. Responding officers found Mr. Clyburn’s vehicle parked along the side of the road; he was lying in the grass awaiting help.
According to preliminary statements, Mr. Clyburn had been shot once in the leg. A young black male was seen running from the scene after the shooting. Mr. Clyburn was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he is currently in surgery. The CMPD K-9 Unit responded to the scene to assist in tracking the suspect, but they were unable to locate anyone.
Detectives are working to identify the individuals involved in the shooting and are continuing to process the scene for physical evidence.
