Wachovia Bank Robbed on South Blvd

UPDATE: Police arrested Richard B. Coleman and charged him with the bank robbery.

The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individual who recently robbed the Wachovia Bank located at 1625 South Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina (NC).

On Thursday, September 4, 2008, at approximately 1:36 p.m., a lone male entered the bank, approached a bank teller, and presented the teller with a bank robbery demand note that threatened the teller and demanded cash.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect exited the bank. At this time, it is not known if the suspect fled the area on foot or in a vehicle. Although no weapon was observed or displayed during the robbery, the bank robbery demand note threatened use of a weapon. However, there were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black male, no facial hair, balding with closely shaved hair and possible gray stubble, approximately 6’2” – 3’ in height, weighing 180 to 200 pounds, thin build, and approximately 35 to 45 years of age. At the time of the robbery, the suspect had a pair of sunglasses propped on top of his head and was wearing a white t-shirt and dark short-pants that were below the knee in length. The suspect also had a jagged scar on his left cheek that was 2 to 3 inches in length.
