Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Robbery Detectives are investigating the robbery of the China Sauté Restaurant and the Queen City Pizza Depot. The restaurants are situated next to each other at the 2200 block of Park Road in the Providence Division. The initial call for service came in at 9:44 p.m., on Monday, October 06, 2008.
Providence Division officers responded to the robbery calls in reference to multiple black male suspects robbing both stores at gunpoint. The suspects fled the area in a mini van that was stolen from the 8000 block of South Tryon on October 4, 2008. The mini van was recovered tonight, a short time after the robbery near Kirkwood and Magnolia. Crime Scene Search is processing the robbery scenes and the recovered stolen vehicle for evidence.
Joel Doliveck, co-owner of the Queen City Pizza Depot, was shot in the leg by one of the suspects during the course of the robbery. Mr. Doliveck was able to give a brief statement on scene before being transported to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He will be interviewed by a robbery detective once he is in stable condition and out of surgery. CMPD Robbery detectives responded to the scene and are currently interviewing the store owners of the China Sauté. No one was injured during the robbery from the China Sauté Restaurant. ADW Unit detectives responded to the scene as well to assist with questioning.
