Homicide Unit detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are on the scene of a domestic related homicide at 4534 Biesterfield Dr. in the North Division.North Division officers responded to a call for service at 3:27 p.m., on Sunday April 12, 2009. The call for service originated from the residence. The responding officers took one subject into custody without incident at the scene.
The female victim, Yolanda Nikkia Hill, 31, was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic. This incident was not a random act and the victim and suspect were known to one another.
North Division officers secured the scene and notified the Homicide Unit. Vernon Price Blackman has been arrested and is currently being questioned by Homicide Detectives at Police Headquarters.
Crime Scene Search responded to the scene and is collecting physical evidence. The Homicide Unit is canvassing the neighborhood for anyone who may have any information relative to this investigation.
