Case Update: A murder warrant was issued earlier today for Fisgerald Demont Kilgo for the murder of Drew Thompson. The Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, with the assistance of the S.W.A.T. team and patrol officers arrested Mr. Kilgo today shortly after 5 p.m. This arrest marks Kilgo’s 30th arrest in Mecklenburg County since 1996.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide and ADW Detectives are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, June 1, 2009, at approximately 11:06 p.m. The incident took place at 9315 Statesville Rd in the North Division. The victim has been identified as Drew McDonald Thompson; the next of kin has been notified.
North Division officers responded to a report of a person shot in the parking lot of the Hilton Garden Inn at 9315 Statesville Rd. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
Based on preliminary witness statements, this incident is believed to be related to a drug deal. Detectives are interviewing possible suspects who were detained on a traffic stop by Metro Division Officers on Beatties Ford Rd shortly after the incident occurred.
Crime Scene Search Investigators are currently processing the scene of the homicide and the scene of the traffic stop on Beatties Ford Rd.
