UPDATE: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have made an arrest in the homicide at 3416 Teal Point Drive.Detectives signed warrants on 27-year old Corey Douglas Grant after working all through the night and following several leads in the case. CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested Mr. Grant and he is in custody and charged with murder.

At 10:30 pm on September 11th, 2009, Officers from the CMPD Eastway Division were dispatched to 3416 Teal Point Drive at the Greenbryre Apartments in reference to a person shot.
Once officers arrived, they discovered a male victim in apartment F2 suffering from gunshot wounds. Medic transported the victim to CMC Main where the victim died a short time later.
Preliminary information indicates this is not a random shooting and that the victim had some type of altercation with a suspect before the shooting.
Witnesses describe hearing several gunshots in front of 3416 Teal Point Drive before the suspect fled in a newer model silver four door car.
Homicide Detectives and Division officers canvassed the area and interviewed neighbors while Crime Scene gathered evidence and took photographs.
Detectives have identified the victim as Jimmy Deshawn Sanderlin, 24.
