Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives are investigating multiple stabbings that occurred at 1939 Eastway Drive, which left one person deceased. The deceased has been identified; pending notification of next of kin, his name is being withheld.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on November 15, 2009, Eastway Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon.
The altercation stemmed from a verbal disagreement that took place at a local bar. When officers arrived, there were a total of three victims suffering from multiple stab wounds in the parking lot of the Townhomes of Ashbrook. All three victims were transported to CMC-Main with life-threatening injuries. Based on initial witness statements, the victims were stabbed subsequent to an altercation in the parking lot.
The suspects are described as five Hispanic males, two of which left in a green vehicle. This incident does not appear to be a random event, but rather an ongoing dispute. Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Homicide Detectives are in the process of interviewing multiple witnesses.
This investigation is in its early stages. Detectives with the Homicide Unit, ADW Unit, Vice and Narcotics, Firearms and Gang Units are on scene and will continue to work the investigation. Crime Scene Search is on scene as well, photographing the scene and collecting physical evidence.
