CMPD Detectives Investigating a Homicide on Wilkinson Boulevard

Case Update: December 13, 2009 -3:40 p.m.: Homicide Unit Detectives have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Sabrina A. Black for the murder of Ms. Wilson. Ms. Black is described as a W/F and about 5’2” tall and 145 pounds. Ms. Black was later arrested and is currently in the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation at 6330 Wilkinson Boulevard. The call for service came in at 1:45 a.m., on Sunday, December 13, 2009. The victim is named Mary Elizabeth Wilson.

Freedom Division officers received a call for service in reference to a shooting at Dot’s Hot Spot and upon arrival found the victim lying in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

This investigation is in its initial stages. Based upon information gathered from initial witness statements, this incident began as a verbal altercation inside the club and spilled over into the parking lot. Neither the victim nor the suspect works at the club. Detectives are still interviewing witnesses to determine the events which led up to the shooting.

The suspect, a white female with long blonde hair, shot at the victim from a black Cadillac DTS four door sedan which was following close behind a white pickup truck. Both vehicles fled the scene on Wilkinson Boulevard towards Gaston County . The victim and suspect are known to each other, this was not a random act of violence.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit, ADW Unit and Gang Unit are on scene conducting the investigation. Crime Scene Search is on scene as well, photographing the scene and collecting physical evidence.
