44 Violent Felons Convicted in One Week

Forty-four (44) defendants plead guilty to violent felony crimes in Mecklenburg County Superior Court from December 6, 2010 - December 10, 2010. The defendants entered their pleas before The Honorable Yvonne Mims Evans, Superior Court Judge.

The convictions were for crimes that included armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, child sex offenses and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Based on the structured sentencing laws in North Carolina, sentences ranged from probation to eleven years in prison; some of them included:

Gadell Boyd (25) was convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and was sentenced to 7 1/2 - 10 years in prison. Dropped charges include: Attempted 1st degree murder, Conspiracy, Possession of a firearm, possession of drugs with intent to sell, etc.

Jesus Rodriguez (19) was convicted of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and was sentenced to 24-38 months in prison followed by 20-33 months in prison suspended for 36 months supervised probation.

Danny Josey (47) was convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and was sentenced to 51-71 months in prison. Dropped charges include attempted 1st degree murder, 2nd robbery charge, resisting officer, conspiracy, larceny, possession of stolen goods, etc.

Ladarius Royal (17) was convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit first degree burglary and was sentenced to 40-66 months in prison. Dropped charges include assault with a deadly weapon and breaking & entering. This is his first conviction as an adult.

LaTodd Moore (43) was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and he admitted his status as a habitual felon; he was sentenced to 91-119 months in prison.

James Hines (59) was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a child and was sentenced to 17-21 months in prison suspended for 36 months of supervised probation with GPS monitoring as a sex offender for life.

Donald Lowery (25) was convicted of three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Lowery was sentenced to 78-103 months in prison.

Malik Shropshire (19) was convicted of three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and was sentenced to 48-67 months in prison.
