Officer Hurt During Drug Bust in Independence Division

On Sunday evening, CMPD Independence officers arrested Thedrick Hoyle during a drug bust. As officers tried to detail Hoyle, he struck an officer in the head, causing her to have a contusion.

Police were called to the Circle-K store located at 9100 Monroe Road around 5:30 pm after receiving a tip about a man possibly selling drugs from his car to two individuals.

Hoyles's vehicle was searched and officers found drug paraphernalia, sandwich baggies, scales to weigh drugs, 118 grams of marijuana, 1.5 grams of cocaine, 392 Xanax pills, 7 Oxycodone pills and a stolen firearm that was concealed when officers confronted him. Police also seized $8,447 in currency.

Police seized Hoyle's vehicle since it was being used to store the drugs and prepare them for sale. Hoyle is facing several felony drug charges in addition to possession of a stolen firearm and assault on a government official.
