UPDATE: SWAT
officers made entry into residence and discovered the suspect dead of an
apparent gunshot wound. Homicide Detectives are on the scene and
investigating the death. roommate

On
Thursday, April 14, 2011, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers
responded to a shooting which occurred at 2:05 p.m. at 12231 Hampton Place Drive. The victim and suspect are known to each other and are
roommates according to the victim.
The
victim was shot once in the shoulder and was alert, conscious and
breathing on his own when Medic arrived on scene. The suspect’s
location after the shooting was in doubt as the victim was unsure if the
suspect remained inside the apartment or if he fled the scene.
The
location was locked down and a perimeter was set up. The CMPD SWAT
team was mobilized and responded to the scene. A Geo Notify (reverse
911) was sent out to a one mile radius of the incident location and no
students were being allowed off of CMS buses within a two mile radius of
the incident location.
SWAT is currently attempting to make contact with the suspect who may or may not be inside the residence.
