Detectives with the CMPD Homicide Unit and Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) Unit are conducting an investigation into a stabbing that occurred at 5714 Copper Creek Court, located in the CMPD Hickory Grove Division.The call for service came in at 1:14 am, on May 05, 2011. The victim has been identified as 35-year old Ricky Lee Self.
Hickory Grove Division officers were inside the Camden Forest Apartment complex conducting an unrelated investigation when they heard screams from a female coming from a nearby apartment. As they ran to the apartment, the screams continued and the officers kicked in the door to the apartment.
When they entered the apartment, they located Ricky Self suffering from multiple stab wounds as well as a female subject who had cuts to her body. Medic arrived and pronounced Mr. Self deceased at 1:26 a.m. The female was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
At this time, this does not appear to be a random act of violence. Detectives are not seeking anyone else involved in this incident.
Crime Scene Search responded to the scene of the incident to collect physical evidence and photograph the scene.
