CMPD Crime Stats for September 2011

Crime Statistical Summary for the Month of September 2011: 

Through the end of September, the preliminary total for Index Offenses was -7.8% lower than this time last year.  Property crime decreased by -8.2% while violent crime decreased by -4.8%.
  • 40 homicides were reported through September compared to 48, resulting in a decrease of -16.7%.
     
  • 1,134 robberies were reported compared to 1,350, resulting in a decrease of -16.0%
     
  • 167 rapes were reported compared to 167, staying flat at 0.0%
     
  • 2193 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 2,147, resulting in an increase of 2.1%
     
  • Burglary overall was down -6.3%, (6,226 compared to 6,642) with a decrease of -12.1% in residential (4,559 compared to 5,186) and an increase of 14.5% in commercial cases (1,667 compared to 1,456). This increase in commercial burglaries is due to several cases where multiple units were burglarized at mini-storage facilities.
     
  • 1,548 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 2,071, resulting in a decrease of -25.3%.
     
  • Total larceny cases declined by -6.7% (15,744 compared to 16,874) with the larcenies from auto down by -19.6% (6,086 compared to 7,569).
     
  • 147 arson cases were reported compared to 199, resulting in a decrease of -26.1%.
