CMPD Officer Presented with Law Enforcement Commendation Medal

Officer Wayne Roth was presented with the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal by the Mecklenburg Chapter of the North Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution. Each year this award is given to recognize exceptional service by an officer who made major contributions to our community.

Officer Roth is assigned to the Freedom Division field services and has been with the department since 2005.

Officer Roth has been a member of the Civil Emergency Unit for his entire career and has volunteered for deployments to Washington, DC for the presidential inauguration and to Pittsburgh for the G-20 Summit. He has been selected to attend specialized training to include the Justice Academy and the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama. He currently assists with officer driver training and is one of the instructors for training in preparation for the national convention in Charlotte in Sept 2012.

Officer Roth is a veteran and retired after 20 years of service as a 1st sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division. He has been awarded three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He is an avid runner and participates in charity runs for cancer and Alzheimer’s disease research.
