Man Shot & Killed on Wynbrook Way

UPDATE:   Members of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested Tommy Lee Stowe, for the murder of Ramel Dayson. It was also determined during the investigation that the victim and suspect were known acquaintances and that this was not a random act of violence.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit and A/D/W Unit are conducting an investigation into a shooting at 4532 Wynbrook Way which left one man dead.

The call for service came in at 8:57 p.m., on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The victim has been identified as Ramel Dayson.

North Division patrol officers responded to Tanglewood Apartments where they located Mr. Dayson inside an apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic transported Mr. Dayson to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Based upon initial witness statements,

Mr. Dayson was inside his mother’s apartment and stepped outside into the common area. Shortly after stepping outside, Mr. Dayson came back to the apartment and said that he had been shot. Detectives are currently canvassing the complex to determine if anyone saw or heard anything in the moments leading up to the shooting that will aid in the investigation.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team responded to the scene as well.
