CMPD: Bank of America Demonstration After-Action Report

CMPD:  The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department received information that several hundred people were organizing to demonstrate in the area of the Bank of America Shareholders meeting on May 9, 2012.  The strategic goal of the CMPD during the event was to ensure the safety of the shareholders and the community while protecting the constitutional rights of lawful demonstrators.  The CMPD's strategic operation plan was successfully implemented during the day which included peaceful demonstrations at several locations in and around the center city.

Event operations were coordinated from the CMPD command center. The command center was operational from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. During this time period, the CMPD estimates that approximately 500 people participated in these peaceful demonstrations.  Despite the large number of demonstrators, there were no significant incidents reported.
