Charlotte Man Apprehended in West Virginia by US Marshals

Kevin William Stevenson, 20, had multiple outstanding warrants in Mecklenburg County as a result of a home invasion and robbery which occurred on Eastway Drive on June 8, 2012.  Stevenson allegedly exchanged gunfire with the victims, US Marshals said.  Following the incident, Stevenson fled the Charlotte area to avoid being caught by authorities, according to the official release.

Stevenson was arrested in West Virginia on Wednesday, according to U.S. Marshals.  On July 1, 2012, warrants were obtained for Stevenson in Mecklenburg County for eight different charges, including two counts of armed robbery,  breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a female.

An investigation led by the U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force from the Western District of North Carolina revealed that Stevenson had sought shelter in the small town of Bluefield, West Virginia. VOTF members then traveled to the West Virginia town and arrested the fugitive, according to Marshals.  Stevenson will remain in custody in Bluefield, W.V. pending an extradition back to Mecklenburg County to face the outstanding charges.
